Honest review of Mac mini m4
Hey everyone, today I’m going to give my honest review of the Mac Mini.
When I bought this Mac Mini, the only other product in the same price range was the MacBook M1. I know the M1 is quite slow compared to the newer models, and I think the M4 is about twice as fast. I chose the M4 because I’ve been using desktop computers for a long time, and I’m used to a mechanical keyboard and mouse. So, I thought the Mac Mini would be the best option for me.
However, a few days or maybe a month after I bought it, the price dropped significantly. Right now, I think it’s around 80,000, so I feel a bit unlucky about that. I bought that for 101000 exactly( $721 USD) from Hukut store.
Mostly I use vscode for coding and some heavy resource consuming code editor like Cursor. Honestly cursor lags way too much and I switched back to VSCode, when I open a specific file with command palette in Cursor it just keeps loading and the file doesn't open.
Performance-wise, the Mac Mini is really fast. But after recent software updates, I’ve noticed that when the device is locked and no applications are running, the fan turns off, which causes it to overheat while idle. Sometimes, I also feel slight lag with basic applications, even when I haven’t been doing heavy tasks. Occasionally, when I open certain apps, I see the loading cursor for a while. I believe this is due to a software update.
Mostly my 16GB RAM is always 70% in usage and more than that in heavy usage tasks. Overall, the Mac Mini is still one of the best things I’ve ever bought and offers great value for money. Even though I paid around 1 lakh and now the price is about 20,000 less, I still think it’s worth it.
